Coats can be worn to make a statement whilst keeping function – fashionable.
Stylists from Rachel Zoe to Tim Gunn recommend investing in a sustainable coat that will last through years of change and growth as a stylish woman.
Advise: Black Wool Coat. Select either Trench, Car or Walking Coat styles. The length will depend upon your height but in general coats of this fashion are best when they hit mid-thigh to knee length.
Reason: Coats of this length and cut are always in style and offer a simple elegant choice. Classic black coats take the guess work out of trying to accent an outfit with a coat of color or varying fabric. This style can be worn with any outfit in your closet….jeans, leggings, dresses or suits. It will become a staple in your wardrobe…one of the Key Pieces.
Problem: Black Wool Coats that combine sustainability & savvy style. (Author’s Note: Some coats were photographed in alternate colors but are available in Black)

Project:
-
Add Classic Black Coat to the Key Pieces (Needs) section of your wardrobe journal.
-
Consider weather conditions of where you live.
-
Scan your wardrobe & determine if you require a dressier or more casual coat. If you wear more dresses and suits than jeans or trousers you may opt for a cashmere blend that will offer a more polished look.
-
Try on lots of different styles before making a decision to ensure proper fit & length.
-
Advise: when trying on coats, unless you live in severely cold temperatures, don’t use the old myth of buying a big size to make room for layers! Coats should fit & lay closely along your body….not tight but tailored!

Totally agree! Wool just works! A 3/4 seems to work best since it doesn’t over-dress up jeans but still works with a suit. Since they are timeless you can add one here and there and get years of service from them.
Great advice!
